"The Owl of Minerva begins its flight only with the onset of dusk." - Hegel, Philosophy of Right
The owl represents the goddess of wisdom; a cultures philosophical understanding reaches its peak only when the culture enters its decline.
According to Hegel, we can only understand something that is fully formed and completed. The limit to our knowledge is the historical present. We can fully know the past, but cannot know the future.Â
The purpose of Minerva Theory is to take this passage to heart. We believe that there is much to learn from history and understanding what has happened is crucial to preparing for the future. This website will feature short-form and long-form presentations with the purpose of solidifying our own knowledge and sharing our understanding with others.
We are glad to have you on this journey with us.
